Hyperactivity
A system that doesn't know how to come down
Kids who can't slow down, seem wired even when exhausted, or crash only at the end of a meltdown — their nervous systems are running in overdrive. Care that helps them regulate is the missing structural piece.
Understanding Hyperactivity
What it is & why it shows up
Hyperactivity in kids looks different from kid to kid. Some are physically hyperactive — bouncing off the walls, climbing on everything, can't sit through a meal. Others are verbally hyperactive — talking nonstop, interrupting, volume always at a 9. Some are emotionally hyperactive — every feeling is a big feeling, recovery is slow, there's no medium.
What's underneath all of them is a nervous system that can't find neutral. The sympathetic gas pedal is on; the parasympathetic brake can't do its job. From a structural lens, upper cervical and cranial tension is often contributing — the same holding patterns that make sleep hard, sensory processing harder, and school compliance feel impossible.
Chiropractic care that reduces structural load on the nervous system gives kids more capacity for self-regulation. We don't promise care calms a hyperactive child — we do see that kids with regulated nervous systems have more access to their own brakes. Care works alongside any behavioral, OT, or educational support your child is already receiving.
Important
When to seek medical care first
If hyperactivity is affecting your child's safety, their learning, or your family's quality of life significantly, please work with your pediatrician and a developmental specialist alongside any chiropractic care.

Frequently asked questions
Absolutely. We never adjust a child who isn't ready. The first few visits are often about building trust. Most kids settle into care once they realize we're not doing anything to them — we're working with them. We meet every kid where they are.
