What to Expect

For the Parents Who Are A Little Nervous

It's a fair question — “what does a chiropractor actually do to a kid?” Here's exactly what happens, from check-in to follow-up.

Step 1

Your first visit

We start with a conversation about your child— health history, sleep, digestion, anything that feels off, anything you’re worried about. You’ll be in the room for the entire visit. We never take a kid out of sight of a parent.

After the history, we do a gentle hands-on assessment and the CLA INSiGHT nervous system scan. The scan takes about ten minutes total and the probes just touch the skin along the back — no needles, no radiation, nothing that requires your kid to hold still for long.

We end the first visit by showing you the scan results together and walking through what we see. If we think care is a fit, we’ll recommend a plan. If we don’t, we’ll tell you that too.

Step 2

What an adjustment looks like

Your kid can sit in your lap, lay on the table, stand, or kneel — whatever feels comfortable. We use an instrument called the Integrator, which delivers a featherlight tap. There’s no twisting, no cracking, no sudden movements.

The pressure is gentle enough that we use the same technique on newborns. Most kids describe it as a soft tap or a press. Some kids giggle. A lot of kids go quiet because they feel their nervous system settle.

A typical visit after the first one is quick — usually under fifteen minutes door to door. Kids come, get adjusted, and go back to their day.

Step 3

When kids won’t hold still

We work with kids where they are. If your toddler wants to stand on the table, we adjust them standing. If they want to crawl around for the first few minutes, that’s fine — we adjust them mid-play. If they want a snack or a song or a favorite toy, bring it.

We’ve been doing this a long time. A wiggly kid is not a problem for us, and we never force an adjustment. If a child is truly not ready on a given day, we pause and regroup. The goal is always a kid who feels safe in our office — not a perfect-looking visit.

Step 4

How often, how long

A typical care plan starts with more frequent visits while the nervous system settles, then spaces out as your kid’s system holds adjustments longer. Early on, that can look like twice a week for a few weeks. Later, it’s often every two weeks, then monthly.

We re-scan at milestones so progress isn’t something we’re just telling you about — you can see it. Most families transition into a wellness cadence within a few months, where visits become part of a rhythm rather than something to schedule around.

Whatever the recommendation is, you’ll always know why. And you’re always free to ask questions, pause care, or change direction.

Step 5

Bring siblings

Our office is built for families. There’s a kid-friendly play area, comfortable seating for parents, and no rush. You don’t have to arrange childcare to get to a visit — bring the whole crew.

A lot of families end up scheduling siblings back-to-back, which turns a chiropractor trip into a family rhythm instead of another errand on the list. Your older kid can be reading a book while your younger one gets adjusted, and vice versa.

What the visit actually feels like

The treehouse. The floor play. The adjustment.

Pediatric wellness visits feel less like a doctor's appointment and more like a playdate with a purpose. That's on purpose.
